The church of Santa Cecilia was filled to attend the lecture by Fr. Sergi d'Assís Gelpí, monk of Montserrat, who talked about Music, spiritual experience open to everyone. Sergi d'Assís is used to teaching and did a very didactic explanation, accompanying his experience as prefect of the Escolania (Montserrat children choir) in trips to Russia or China, in which he highlighted the reaction of Asian people to the music sung by the Catalan choir. Do we have to understand the music or just get the emotion? Do we need a sensitivity or an intellectual knowledge to understand it? There are no barriers. Father Sergi d'Assís showed two videos that thrilled the public: the first, of the former “escolà” Lluís Travesset (present at the event) singing Our Father by Arvo Pärt, piece included in the audio guide of Santa Cecilia; the second, a video of a young Albert Cano in the Escolania when his future as a pianist was already foreseen. The session allowed us to deepen the interest to listen and enjoy music.
